Mini Vacation at Grand Targhee in Wyoming

We arrived at Grand Targhee Thursday around 6 p.m. After unpacking, we ate dinner and then went swimming and sat in the hot tub with our friends, the Holyoaks. These were outside and so if you were really brave, you could lay in the snow and then jump in the water to warm up. On Friday, Chloe and Chase took skiing/boarding lessons while the rest of us skied/boarded. After the lifts closed at 4 p.m. (for some odd reason, they don't do night skiing there), Chloe, Chase, Chad and I went tubing with Claire and Harrison. Then after dinner, Eric took the kids swimming again and when they returned, Chauntel and I went. Saturday we went skiing/boarding again but this time, we couldn't stay until closing because it was snowing so hard and we were just tired. So we quit a little after 2 p.m. and were on the road home by 3 p.m. Our room/suite at the lodge was so cool! It had an upstairs and a downstairs. The downstairs had a room with two sets of bunk beds and then there was the master bedroom. There was even a bed in the wall upstairs, which Chauntel quickly dubbed her's. I think the kids thought the t.v. was as much of a vacation as the skiing/boarding!

Visting Santa

Two days before Christmas, I took Chloe to the mall to see Santa. Chase was bored at home and so he decided to come with us. This is what the mall parking lot looked like. Welcome to Idaho!

New Title

Even though I truly like the name 'Trouble in Paradise,' my daughter read that title and was quickly offended. I DIDN'T SAY A WORD! She just automatically assumed it was about her. And she was right. LOL She even read this title and wasn't too impressed with it either. But I like it. I could put 'Baby Steps.' Or 'Take a Deep Breath.' Or 'Don't Forget Your Fork.' Maybe I should do a poll on the name! But that would require people to look at my blog. LOL

Chase loves basketball!

Chase loves playing basketball. He has always been so timid while playing that we decided to wait a year before we signed him up again. In fact, last time he played, we told him we would pay him a quarter each time he TOUCHED the basketball. He didn't have to do anything else but touch the ball. He didn't make very much that season. So this season, we went a little further in the bribing and we told him that we would pay him a dollar for each basket he made. Raise the bar....you know? So in the second or third game, he made a basket and we were all thrilled for him, including Chase. It made his week! So he earned a dollar. Well, the last game came and the other team didn't show up. So the coach decided to cut the team in half and have them play each other. One team gray and one team blue. Chase made a basket within minutes of the game starting.... then 5 minutes later, another basket. By half time, he had made 3 baskets! I told my friend, Ann Barrett, who was sitting by me the deal and her and her daughter were having a hayday egging Chase on to make more baskets and thus, make more money. By the end of the game, Chase was the high scorer and had made 5 baskets. It was quite the money making game for Chase. He can't wait to start a new season.

Why Trouble in Paradise?

Why the name 'Trouble in Paradise'? Well, credit goes to Mike Holyoak for that one. Maybe he will comment on why he chose that name for our family and maybe we should be offended....but it makes me laugh and does seem to fit our family.

Welcome to the McGary Blog!

Welcome! I was looking at my friend's, Brett Holyoak, blog while talking to her on the phone, and she talked me into doing this. We will see just how often I get to this because I really do want to get caught up on my scrapbooking.
